All-season tires for SUVs

SUV all-season tires

If you plan to place SUV all-season tires on your SUV, you should be aware that they are not rated for use on snow and ice. Owning an SUV does not eliminate the need for proper tires in winter road conditions. Tires that hold the “Three Peak Mountain Snowflake” emblem assure that the tires have been approved for use on ice and snow. The SUV does, of course, offer better traction than the regular two-wheeled cars, so even with all-season tires, you will be able to navigate through light snow or even off-road situations. Obviously, in regions with mild weather throughout the year, the all-season tires are great.

The Nokian Tyres One is a premium all-season tire that will allow excellent handling on all kinds of road conditions, from hot, wet, and lightly snow-filled roads. These tires come with the “Aramid Sidewall technology” that allows for extra protection against punctures – in fact, they even come with a pothole protection warranty. As with all Nokian tires, it offers low rolling resistance, so you can save on fuel costs and help minimize emissions. All-season tires, in general, allow for a smooth ride and have an extended tread life. They also have excellent handling and performance on both dry and wet pavement.  You should consider all-weather tires or snow tires when living in an area with severe winters.

The Nokian WR G4 SUV is an excellent all-weather tire specially made for SUVs so you can stay safe in the most treacherous of winter weather. This is because this 4th generation true all-weather tire provides reliable winter grip with its “Centipede siping,” which increases grip on both snow and ice with the jagged sipes along the longitudinal rib on the center of the tire. The Nokian WR G4 SUV tires also have the “Aramid sidewall technology,” rendering the tires virtually puncture-proof.

Keep in mind to respect the manufacturer’s recommended tire dimensions for your SUV. If you currently have 275/65R18 size tires, you will need 275/65R18 all-weather tires. With the correct size tires, your SUV will perform optimally while allowing for the best handling.

SUV all-season tires can even be considered in areas with severe winter weather if you are willing to change into SUV winter tires in the winter. This is not a bad idea as some people prefer to place studded winter tires on the SUV in areas with lots of snow and ice. With winter tires holding the severe snow service rating (“Three Peak Mountain Snowflake” emblem), you can rest assured that these tires will keep you and your family safe. There is also the possibility to make the changeover more convenient by keeping a second set of wheels with winter tires in the garage. This speeds up the changeover, and you will be able to keep the same winter tires for many years into the future as the tires will only be used for a few months in the winter.
