What is Local SEO?

Search engine optimization, or SEO, is one of the strategies that businesses can useto reach an audience. It involves web content writing services where a web copy is produced to engage site visitors. Content is significant in online promotion strategies and helps the company establish content authority.

Small and local businesses can consider local SEO to help improve their online visibility among local audiences. Local SEO optimizes a business’s online presence so that it can appear to local searchers. A business’s digital presence may include its website, Google Business Profile, or GBP listing in local SEO.

Google Business Profile listings are what users see at the top of the search engine results page when they perform a local search. This is the white box that contains a bunch of local business names, addresses, and contact information.

Local SEO can help businesses become more visible in search results by providing a robust GBP listing and a website optimized for local searches. This is different from national SEO or what is generally known as regular SEO. National SEO helps websites rank for relevant searches from around the country.

Some of the most significant differences in performing local and national SEO include the competition and target audience. When performing local SEO, businesses rank for locally relevant searches. It deals with much lower competition but might bring in fewer customers.

Meanwhile, national SEO can get more business customers because it can reach a broader range of audience. But businesses using national SEO would compete with similar companies nationwide, which may mean thousands of competitors. Gainingvisibility may be difficult, and companies must ramp up their efforts to win against competitors.

Another difference between local and national SEO is their ranking factors. Ranking factors in SEO refer to the different variables that search engines check on websites to see if it is eligible for a higher rank. Local SEO shares various ranking factors with national SEO. Since local SEO keywords are meant to connect businesses with local customers, Google uses additional factors to fulfill this requirement.

One of the ranking factors used in local SEO keywords, is an optimized GBP listing. Google prefers businesses that offer comprehensive information such as business name, address, and phone number or NAP consistency.
